About Wellfedstudent

The Well-Fed Student began as a desperate act of money-saving. Carie and Vicky (both grad students at USC in Los Angeles), broke as hell and on the cusp of having to decide between paying rent and buying groceries, pledged together to figure out a way to enjoy nutritious, delicious meals for less than $150/month. We were grown adults and had already done our time on Ramen noodles as undergrads; we wanted real food, good food, healthy and tasty and wonderful food. But could we afford it?

After several successful experiments and realizing how much fun cheap cooking can be, we created this blog. And added advertisements to pay for our groceries. Now we can afford to drink wine with our $2 dinners. The recipes in this blog are all cheap, all healthy, and all kitchen-tested delicious.

We hope this blog inspires and nourishes you, our no-longer-starving student friends.
